The height and weight of a child are genetically programmed processes that must be strictly controlled at all stages of growing up. Comparing these indicators of different periods, it is possible to assess the correctness and harmony of the physical development of the infant, to reveal hidden pathologies or a predisposition to them.
It is necessary
- - electronic scales for newborns;
- - floor electronic scales;
- - tape measure;
- - ruler;
- - table;
- - notebook;
- - a pen.
Instructions
Step 1
In the first year of the baby's life, parents visit the children's clinic every month, where the pediatrician must weigh and measure the growth of the baby. However, many married couples seek to double-check the data obtained at the clinic in order to keep the situation under control.
Step 2
You can measure the weight of a baby at home using special scales for newborns. They can be purchased at a pharmacy or a specialty children's store. Scales for newborns are mechanical (such models are practically out of use) and electronic. The latter have a convenient support in the form of a bowl, on which it is necessary to put a baby or to plant an already grown baby. Newborn scales are commonly used to measure the weight of a baby under 2 years of age.
Step 3
Before the procedure, completely undress the baby in order to get more reliable figures. Many electronic devices are equipped with the function of storing the obtained values, which allows parents to see the difference in weight in comparison with previous data. If your scale does not have electronic memory, be sure to write down the numbers in a notebook or notebook.
Step 4
When special scales for newborns are not available, you can use conventional floor scales. To do this, measure the exact weight of the mother and remember its value. After that, the mother needs to take the baby in her arms and weigh with him. The resulting difference in indicators will be the weight of the child. This method is not very accurate, therefore, for regular weighing, it is better to purchase special baby scales.
Step 5
To measure the height of the baby, put an ordinary measuring tape on the flat surface of the table, while the zero mark should be against the wall. Then place the baby on the table so that his head rests against the wall. Straighten the child's legs and gently press them with your left hand against the table surface. With your right hand, apply a ruler to the crumbs' feet (it should lie perpendicular to the tape). Determine the growth of the baby at the point of contact between the ruler and the measuring tape. Write the data down in a notebook.
