Almost all people try alcohol, mostly at a fairly early age. It is easier to prevent teenage alcoholism than to cure it, but you need to be very careful when doing this.

Errors of youth

If this is the first time you see your child drunk, do not sound the alarm. This happens to everyone sooner or later, and how you behave depends on how his relationship with alcohol will develop. First of all, you need to calm down, not pounce on the child, giving lectures about the dangers of alcohol. In a state of intoxication, he still simply will not perceive most of your words, but he will remember your emotional outburst for a long time.

Be sure to give your child enough activated charcoal tablets, if necessary, do a gastric lavage. If you are concerned about your child's condition, call your doctor.

It is better to leave the conversation about the dangers of alcohol in the morning. Do not force a conversation if your child is not ready for it, but do not give him indulgences, be sure to send your child to school or college, if necessary, give him a pain reliever pill. Condescension in this matter can lead to negative consequences in the future.

When starting a conversation about alcohol, do not take the position of infallibility. Calmly explain to your child the risks of frequent drinking at a young age and in general. Show understanding, do not judge the child, do not give him ratings, you can only talk about the act itself.

When to start worrying

If the situation repeats itself several times, it is time to start worrying. A one-time intake of alcohol can be explained by curiosity, the systematic use of alcohol is already an alarming trend. Think about what your child is missing at home and what he is looking for in alcohol.

At this stage, you can and should go to a family psychologist, the sooner you get to the reasons why your child regularly uses alcohol, the easier it will be to cope with this situation.

If during the counseling session you find out that the child is drinking for the company, try to explain to him that in the future such a practice can lead to unpleasant consequences. Without nerves, calmly tell him again about the dangers of alcohol, about its effect on the development of the body. If the situations continue, you can try to take the child out of the company that has a negative influence on him.

If the reason for regular drinking is something else, it must be eliminated. Ongoing counseling, support groups, and other common practices can help your child cope with this addiction.

Offer him to go in for sports or art, various circles fill the child's life, leaving him no time for harmful activities, but this can only be done if you are working on your child's alcohol dependence by other means.
