Learning should be comfortable
To begin with, in a conversation with a teenager, make sure that nothing prevents him from studying. After all, school is not only a process of acquiring knowledge. The child spends a lot of time with classmates and teachers, communicates with them. Find out if he has had any quarrels with classmates or conflicts with teachers. Unfortunately, there are also teachers in schools who can completely discourage interest in their subject. Perhaps you should help your child find a more comfortable place to study - transfer him to another class or even a different school. Discuss this issue before you start convincing your teenager of the importance of learning and getting good grades.
Motivation
Lucky for those children who, in childhood, chose a profession for themselves and stubbornly go towards their goal. They do not have the question of what they need to study for - of course, in order to enter the required university and get closer to their dreams. If your child has not yet decided who he wants to become, help him. Together, discuss what he is interested in, what subjects he highlights, and where it might come in handy as an adult. Watch films about various professions, attend presentations of various companies. When a teenager realizes that a good study will help him achieve what he wants, he will be much less lazy.
Failure is real
Often, parents scare their children who are shirking by the fact that they will have to work for low wages in unskilled positions. However, adolescents may not take such threats seriously. Sit down and talk with your child that you will love him in any case, even if he is not given a chance to study, and when he grows up, he will clean up offices or hand out flyers near the metro. Such reasoning will show the child that these are not scary tales, but what can really happen to him. But even in this case, it will still be important for him to know that you will not turn away.
Good example
In films and literature, you can find heroes who are beautiful, successful, popular and at the same time learn well. Why not invite your child to familiarize themselves with a work in which there are similar characters. For example, you can invite a teenager to read an episode about the young wizard Harry Potter. His friend Hermione Granger, the idol of many boys and girls, had an extraordinary passion for learning. If your son or daughter decides to take up the mind, at least out of imitation of a beloved hero, you will achieve your goal.
