Step 1
If you want to make an impression of a children's pen at home, you need to prepare the following materials: gypsum, the grade of which is not lower than G-7, any suitable paint in a spray can to cover the finished impression, as well as alginate (this powder is used in dentistry to make impressions of the jaw and teeth) … It is sold in dental stores and medical equipment, as well as over the Internet. To make an impression, take a three-phase alginate, at a time when it hardens and you need to pull the handle out of the solution, it will change color. Put the child to sleep so that during the process of making the impression he does not twitch the handle, and you can take advantage of his peace of mind.
Step 2
Prepare a solution from alginate and water. It is best to use a plastic container for the composition. Take water (1 part) and powder (1, 5 parts). Put the alginate in the water, but not vice versa! Stir well with a mixer. If bubbles form in the mixture, tap the container on the table. These manipulations must be carried out quickly, because alginate has a high solidification rate.
Step 3
As soon as the mixture starts to change color, lower the baby's handle into the mass. Wait about a minute for the solution to harden and begin to look a little rubbery. If it does not stick to the hand applied to the surface of the solution, it means that it has frozen. We can assume that you managed to make a cast of a children's pen at home.
Step 4
Gently pull the baby's handle out of the solidified mass so as not to break the mold for the future impression.
Step 5
Prepare a solution of plaster and water. Pour the plaster of Paris into warm water. Bring to a density reminiscent of thick sour cream. Tap the table to release any air bubbles. Pour the prepared solution into the mold prepared earlier for the impression. The mixture should solidify completely.
Step 6
Carefully separate the alginate mass from the container and clean the gel from the plaster handle. Correct the finished impression if necessary with fine sandpaper. Fix the workpiece on a stand (you can use plaster). Paint the finished product with paint and, if desired, decorate with some funny little things.
