According to the laws of the Russian Federation, a baby can be transferred from an orphanage or shelter to a foster family, provided that the necessary documents are submitted to the commission for consideration. The adoptive parents must be verified in all respects. In addition, the transfer of a child outside the Russian Federation is possible only if the baby cannot be placed in a foster family at home for a long time. Most often, US citizens adopt seriously ill babies, whom Russian citizens do not dare to take into their families.

It is possible to adopt a child from Russia after 1 year after registration in the general database of the Ministry of Education, where all babies to be adopted are entered.

US citizens are notified in writing of the timing of when a child can be selected. Direct adoption is carried out in court. For consideration by the court, you will need to submit an application, originals and photocopies of the prepared documents.

American citizens must obtain from the US social agency a certificate of housing conditions, a medical certificate, which, according to the laws of the Russian Federation, allows them to act as adoptive parents, and income documents. You will also need documents proving the identity of the adoptive parents, a police certificate confirming the absence of a criminal record and delinquency. All documents must be translated into Russian.

To bring a child into the United States, you will need a permit from the Immigration Service. This will be a confirmation that after adoption there will be no problems with living in the United States.

The Russian side, represented by the guardianship and guardianship authorities, prepares the necessary package of documents for the child: birth certificate, medical documents, written permission for adoption, signed by the director of the orphanage or shelter.

The maximum period for consideration of a case on the adoption of a citizen of the Russian Federation by foreign citizens is 50 days. The judgment comes into force in 10 calendar days. After that, the adoptive parents receive all the documents for the child, register it in their own name, take the entire prepared package of documents to the consulate, receive a visa and leave with the adopted child for permanent residence in the United States.
