Paracetamol is very popular in the treatment of children. This drug helps to eliminate the main symptom of almost any disease - fever. However, it should be given to children only when urgently needed, observing all recommendations regarding dosage and contraindications.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not give paracetamol to newborn babies. During this period, any form of release is contraindicated in babies. For children from two months to 15 years old, a safe single dose of paracetamol does not exceed 10-15 mg per 1 kg of body weight, and the daily dose is 60 mg per 1 kg. The drug starts to work in about 30 minutes, and after 4 hours it stops working. Remember that paracetamol can be given to children at intervals of at least 4-6 hours. If there is a need for frequent use, alternate with Ibuprofen.
Step 2
Keep in mind that the course of treatment with paracetamol as an antipyretic agent should not exceed 3 days, and as a pain reliever - 5 days.
Step 3
Pay due attention to the form of release of the drug. Paracetamol is available in the form of capsules, tablets, drops, syrup, effervescent and chewable tablets, solutions for intramuscular injection and ingestion, rectal suppositories. Children are most often prescribed candles and syrup. For babies under 1 year old, the drug can be dissolved in a bottle of water or in tea. As for pills, they are not given to children under 6 years of age.
Step 4
Also, do not forget about contraindications to the use of paracetamol. It is not recommended for hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, metabolic disorders, diabetes mellitus, liver, blood and kidney diseases. Exercise caution with asthmatic diseases in children. In this case, taking paracetamol can aggravate the course of the disease.
Step 5
Monitor your child closely after taking the drug. If after 2-4 hours he turned pale, covered with sweat, or began to vomit, induce vomiting in the baby and call an ambulance.
