The growth of the baby is determined first in the maternity hospital, and then in the children's clinic on a special height meter, in the supine position. At home, the height of a newborn is also easy to measure.

Step 1
Move the table with one side close to the wall. Place your baby on a table covered with a diaper. Position the child's head so that it fits snugly against the wall. The legs should be straightened and slightly pressed against the table so that they lie flat and the child cannot bend them. The feet should be at right angles. A ruler or a bar is attached to the crown, a book can be attached to the feet, and then the distance between them is measured with a measuring tape.
Step 2
After discharge from the hospital, visit the children's clinic every month, where the doctor will determine the dynamics of your child's physical development, and calculate whether it is age appropriate. For this, there are various calculation methods - one of them:

The weight of the baby should correspond to his height.
Step 3
Be sure to record your baby's height at least once a month on a graph, starting with birth height and then monthly. The average growth rate of a newborn is usually 50.5 cm. In the first three months, the child grows by 3 cm per month, in the next three months by 2.5 cm, in the third quarter of the year by 1.5 cm, in the fourth - 1 cm per month … In one year, the growth of the baby should be on average 75 cm.
