It was believed that a wedding dress should be one-piece, and not a suit made of a bodice and a skirt, since separate items predetermined the fate of husband and wife to live separately. Before putting on, the dress was carefully felt - if there was a foreign object somewhere, for example, a needle, which was considered a sign of someone's malicious intent, a wish. Safety pins were pinned to the hem, head down - from the evil eye, and a few stitches of celestial thread were put on the inside of the hem. The dress was forbidden to be ironed by the bride or her mother - usually her friends did it. The longer the dress was, the longer life seemed to be together, so sometimes the hem of the dress was so long that it was carried behind the bride like a train.
