A runny nose in a baby gives a lot of trouble to both the child and his mother. The baby does not know how to breathe through the mouth, therefore, with a runny nose, he refuses to take a breast or a bottle, and accordingly easily and quickly loses weight. Step 1
Instill 1-2 drops of a vasoconstrictor in each nostril. Be sure to buy one that is approved for use from birth. For example, "Nazivin baby" or "Otrivin baby" - they have the weakest concentration, which allows them to be used to treat a cold in an infant. This type of drug allows you to relieve swelling of the nasal mucosa and reduce congestion. Vasoconstrictor drops work for up to 8 hours, so you do not need to bury them often. Do not use vasoconstrictor drops for more than 3-5 days and, if possible, use them only before the baby's sleep at night, since nasal congestion usually increases at night.
Step 2
Wait a few minutes for the vasoconstrictor to take effect. It will then be easier to clean and rinse the baby's nose.
Put a sea salt solution into your baby's nose. This is, for example, a drug such as Aquamaris. You can use not drops, but preparations with a special nozzle "soft shower" - this is a spray that is safe for the baby and makes it easy to dispense the amount of the preparation. For example, "Aqualor baby". Preparations containing sea salt solution are safe for the baby. You can rinse your child's nose with them, even without a doctor's prescription, any number of times a day, but be sure to buy drugs intended for children - they are not so concentrated and do not have unwanted additives in the composition.
Step 3
Clean your baby's nose using a baby aspirator. An aspirator is a device that allows you to suck out liquid. Insert the end with the nozzle into your baby's nostril, take the other end of the tube into your mouth and draw the mucus out of your baby's nose. It will stay on the filter in the nozzle.
You can purchase a battery powered aspirator. If necessary, drip the drops of sea salt solution again and repeat the procedure until the baby's nose breathes freely. The entire procedure must be carried out before meals, before and after sleep. As mentioned above, it is better to use a vasoconstrictor drug only when the baby's runny nose is the thickest. Then you can rinse and clean your nose without it.
Step 4
Give anti-allergy drops three times a day. For example, it can be the drug "Fenistil" or "Zyrtec". It will dry out the runny nose.
Please note that in the first days of using anti-allergenic drops, the baby may be drowsy, this is a common side effect.
Step 5
Be sure to ventilate the room where the baby is. Of course, it is better to take the child out of the room during the airing. A runny nose will be much easier to treat if there is fresh air in the baby's room. Air humidification, especially during the period when heating is on, is also required. Use a special humidifier or simply place wet towels on top of the batteries.
Step 6
Bathe your baby every day. Humid air in the bathroom is also good for a cold. You can add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to your bath. But do this only after making sure that you are not allergic to them.
Step 7
To improve the general condition of the baby during the runny nose, you can use immunostimulating suppositories "Viferon" 150000ME. They must be set twice a day for five days.
