Residents of private houses and ground floors are not familiar with this problem. But for those who live a little higher, and even in houses where there is no elevator, lifting the stroller up the stairs sometimes turns into a real problem. And a simple trip to the store with a stroller can cause unexpected difficulty: not all outlets are equipped with ramps.
It is quite possible to lift the stroller up the stairs, and there are at least three ways for this.
Method one - power
This method is suitable for independent mothers with sufficient physical strength. You just need to take the stroller by the opposite edges, lift it and walk up the stairs, holding it in weight. If you intend to use this method, it is best to choose the lightest stroller design.
As a rule, it can be used without any problems if the stroller is a stroller, but with transforming strollers, heavy models, this method of lifting may not be feasible.
Method two - dependent
You can find someone to lift the stroller for you. For example, if your entrance is safe enough, agree with your spouse that every morning, leaving for work, he will lower the stroller to the lower platform, and in the evening he will lift it to the apartment.
For all its apparent simplicity, this method has a number of significant disadvantages:
- the time when the spouse leaves for work and his return may not coincide with the schedule of your walks with the child, if, for example, he works in shifts or on a rotational basis.
- you simply do not have a spouse, as well as other family members or good neighbors who have the necessary physical data for daily lifting the wheelchair up the stairs.
- the residents of the entrance may express dissatisfaction with the fact that your stroller takes up space in the entrance.
You can, of course, wait for someone every time to help you lift the stroller, but this option is extremely inconvenient and unreliable: strong volunteers may not be there at the right time.
Method three - tricky
You can lift the stroller up the stairs and independently, while showing a certain skill. The trick is that the stroller can simply be rolled up, and this can be done even when the child is in it.
To accomplish this, the following steps are performed sequentially:
- the upper wheels of the stroller are lifted;
- placed on the edge of the step to which they reach;
- the lower wheels of the stroller are raised;
- the stroller is carried on the upper wheels, as far as the width of the step allows;
- the lower wheels of the stroller are installed on the step, and the whole procedure is repeated.
Some people prefer to roll the stroller up the stairs, going up with their backs and forcing the stroller to "walk" after.
Physically, this is much easier than holding the wheelchair on weight, but the procedure is quite lengthy, so it can be used if you only need to lift the wheelchair for a few flights.
In addition, the disadvantage of this method is that not every staircase allows you to do this trick. If, for example, her steps are too narrow or too steep, she will not be able to lift the stroller in this way.
