Death for a person is something unknown. They talk a lot about it, but those who really encountered it won't tell you anything. Therefore, information in this area is very scarce. The reasons for the fear of death may be different, but the main ones are fear of the unknown and possible pain.

Fear of the unknown

Humanity has long been trying to solve the riddle: what awaits him after death. In the mythology of the peoples of the world, the vision of the afterlife is presented in different ways. Basically, according to the ancients, life after death continued in another dimension. Therefore, they did not feel much fear before death, but simply prepared in advance for it and performed all the rituals necessary in connection with the onset of death.

With the rise of religion, the concept of death changed. The Christian and Muslim religions speak of the existence of heaven and hell, into which people inevitably end up after death. But who will be where, depends on personal merit. Those who lived according to the laws of God go to heaven, those who have sinned and did not repent of their sins, the road inevitably leads to hell. Based on the ideas of another religious direction - Buddhism, a person with death experiences the process of reincarnation, the essence of which is the posthumous reincarnation of the soul.

Psychics and clairvoyants also see the afterlife in different ways: some saw the light at the end of the tunnel, others see heaven and hell, still others argue that people are alien beings who undergo a kind of baptism of fire on Earth, while others speak of the souls of dead people as energetic clumps existing in parallel worlds, etc.

There are also skeptics who do not believe in the afterlife at all and believe that with the death of the body, the soul also dies.

Despite a large number of hypotheses about the existence of life after death, the question remains open. At least those who learned the truth never returned to tell humanity. And the unknown, as you know, is frightening.

Fear of pain

This type of fear is physical in nature. A person, like any biological creature with a sensitive nervous system, tends to experience a feeling of pain. Most have a fear of severe pain, which is associated with the death process. People who have thoughts of committing suicide experience this fear in the first place. Some overcome it, while others ultimately decide that life is not so bad. More globally, the fear of death in connection with the expectation of pain at least once in a lifetime visits almost all people.

Other types of fear of death are secondary, and sometimes simply far-fetched under the influence of a person's notions of morality.
