Genital herpes is a viral disease that affects the lining of a woman's genitals. Often this pathology appears during pregnancy, which in the future can lead to complications, as well as negatively affect the development of the fetus.
Instructions
Step 1
Herpes is transmitted by contact, but the most common way is the sexual transmission of the virus. The duration of the acute period of the disease is about ten days, later it goes into a latent form. The virus remains in the body for the rest of its life. The main symptoms of genital herpes are the appearance of a rash on the labia, in the form of bubbles filled with a transparent liquid, which burst within a few days, and ulcers form in their place. A pregnant woman feels an unpleasant itching and burning sensation in the genital area. In this case, the body temperature can rise to 39 degrees, a headache and a general feeling of weakness appear. If you experience such symptoms, consult a doctor immediately to identify the pathogen and start specific therapy.
Step 2
If genital herpes occurs for the first time in the first trimester of pregnancy, the infection may result in congenital malformations of the fetus, often incompatible with life. The herpes simplex virus type II has destructive properties on the fetal tissue, only 15% of children are born healthy in case of a disease during pregnancy. Consider this factor when deciding whether to keep or terminate this pregnancy. Recurrent genital herpes is less dangerous for the child; in this case, the mother's blood already contains antibodies to the virus.
Step 3
If the infection occurs after 12 weeks of pregnancy, treat the condition with a variety of antiviral drugs. To do this, consult your doctor. In no case do not start treating herpes on your own, as this can lead to negative consequences, both for you and for the child.
Step 4
Antiviral drugs come in the form of tablets, ointments, suppositories, and creams. Antiviral ointments are recommended for pregnant women, they are applied topically and, therefore, have a minimal effect on the fetus. For quick healing of wounds, use rosehip oil, sea buckthorn oil, which lubricate the walls of the vagina. This treatment is long enough, carry it out for at least three weeks. With this disease, in addition to specific antiviral treatment, drugs are also prescribed to increase immunity, which include echinacea, B vitamins, eleutherococcus and ginseng.
Step 5
Pregnant women who have had herpes infection need to go to the hospital three weeks before giving birth to prevent infection of the fetus during the very process of birth. As a rule, in such cases, a cesarean section is prescribed. Remember that before planning a pregnancy, it is necessary to carry out a full course of examination of the body for the herpes virus.
