On rainy winter days, when the whole family has to stay at home, you can also spend time usefully and not get bored. To keep the kids busy, a simple loom can be made from scrap materials. It will be interesting for both boys and girls to try themselves in the role of a real weaver or weaver. In addition, you can weave a napkin with your own hands, or maybe a blanket or a rug for a dollhouse.
Necessary
- - thick cardboard
- - scissors or wallpaper knife
- - threads
- - comb or fork
- - stationery clips, paper clips or small clothespins
- - a large sewing needle or cardboard shuttle
Instructions
Step 1
The cardboard needs to be very dense so that it is difficult to bend it. This type of cardboard can be purchased at a hobby and craft store. Make cuts about 1 centimeter long on two opposite sides. The distance between the cuts is 0.5 - 1 centimeter, depending on the thickness
threads. The thicker the thread, the greater the distance.
Step 2
We take ordinary threads for knitting, acrylic with wool or cotton with acrylic, for example. The number of colors is optional. But for the first time, it is better to take threads of two contrasting colors: one color for the main threads, and the other we will weave our product. We fix the main thread with a clamp on the corner of the cardboard.
Step 3
Gently thread the thread into the cuts as shown in the photo: thread and pull down, make a loop between the cuts, pull the thread into the next cut and lead the thread up.
Step 4
We fasten the thread on the other side with a clamp and cut it off. We begin to weave. We will thread the thread for weaving into a large sewing needle or into a hook specially made of cardboard (you can immediately wind the thread on the hook so that you do not need to pull for a long time, this is its advantage over the needle). We fix the end of the thread on the cardboard with a clamp. We thread the thread through the main method: under the thread - above the thread, as shown in the photo.
Step 5
Now in the other direction, but the main thread, which was on top, now runs from the bottom. That is, we observe the so-called chess order.
Step 6
We press several woven rows together using a comb or an ordinary table fork.
Step 7
When the product is ready, we begin to remove it from the machine. Remove one loop, cut and knit to get a brush of two tails. So remove all the loops one by one. Do the same on the other side.
Such a loom, made from scrap materials, can win a child's favor for a long time.
