Decide where the crib will be. Measure the area reserved for it. Its length or width should be 20-25 centimeters larger than the dimensions of the crib itself. Which of the quantities depends on the type of pendulum in the crib. Such an arrangement of the crib is also convenient during feeding (for this, one of the side walls is removed and the bed is tightly moved to the parents' bed). In this case, the longitudinal pendulum will be much more convenient, while the transverse one will either not be able to function or will pose a serious threat to the safety of the baby.

Check the availability and ease of use of the pendulum lock, as the grown up baby will definitely want to rock the crib on his own, which can lead to undesirable consequences. The latch should be on both sides for a more secure fit.

Think about what else is important for you in the crib: a box for bedding (saves a lot of space, but makes it difficult to clean under the crib, making it more bulky), a silicone pad on the sides (protection from baby's teeth from teeth), a lowering backrest and two levels of the bottom (for newborn babies and active children), removable wheels. Last but not least, pay attention to the color and style of the crib, since often choosing a model that is beloved in appearance, young mothers in the future, all three subsequent years, regret that they did not approach the choice of a crib more practical.

Before purchasing, make sure that there is an opportunity to purchase a mattress that matches your requirements for the crib you have selected. As a rule, the sizes of cribs are standard, they are 120 * 60 or 125 * 65. But there are also unpleasant exceptions, especially when it comes to private manufacturers and non-standard bed models.

Check in the store that the bed of your chosen model does not make any sharp, unpleasant sounds during rocking, and that the mechanism itself is reliable.
