Each child develops at its own pace. There are, of course, average indicators according to which a child at a certain age should take the first steps or say the first words. Usually, parents are very attentive to these averages and begin to worry if the baby is lagging behind their peers in some way. For example, what to do if the child of your maternity hospital neighbor has already begun to walk, and yours, well, does not want to tear your ass off the floor?

Step 1

The very first thing to do is not to worry. If the baby is healthy, crawls well, and he began to pronounce the first words even earlier than his peers, everything is in perfect order. It's just that the time for the first steps has not come yet. Of course, it's not worth letting development take its course either, but the most important thing to take care of is to create the need for the baby to walk.

Step 2

Take a close look at your living conditions. If the room is cramped, and the baby can reach absolutely everything from the floor or from the crib, he simply does not need to walk. Of course, there may not be an opportunity to move to a more spacious room. But something can be changed in any case. Hang objects that are attractive to your baby in several places in the room. Place them at such a height that the baby needs to stand up and take at least one step to reach them.

Step 3

In a more spacious room, you can make something like a didactic panel by hanging the toys at a sufficient height and at some distance from each other. To get at least some toy, the baby needs to get up, and to reach the next one - take a step. It is possible, of course, that the baby will act differently - taking out one toy, he will drop to the floor, crawl the required distance and get up again. It's OK. Even if you did not achieve the goal you were striving for, the baby figured out how to solve a difficult problem for him and at the same time solved it himself.

Step 4

Some children do not want to get up on their feet at home, but they gladly do it in the yard or at their summer cottage. Make sure your toddler has appropriate shoes. Of course, a child who is about to start walking does not need booties or knitted slippers, but normal shoes with real soles, moreover, such that they do not rub anywhere. In the courtyard and at the dacha, there are much more temptations for the baby than at home, the situation there is constantly changing, and therefore the need to walk arises more often. Take your baby out of the stroller often and use both handles to guide him.

Step 5

The most basic thing - do not scold the child and do not call him lazy. Otherwise, you will end up being a lazy person. But do not skimp on praise. If your toddler has taken even one step from toy to toy, do not forget to mark this. Next time he will want to receive not only a toy, but also your smile and kind words.
