What kind of person is called smart? Some will say - someone who has read all the books in the world and can retell each one by heart. But one can say about such a person - educated, erudite. The concept of "smart" means rather the intellectual abilities of a person, and not the amount of knowledge that he possesses. It was not for nothing that Lev Tolstoy said that "knowledge of the mind will not teach." Things get complicated when it comes to raising a child.

Step 1
Surround your child with love and attention. The intellectual abilities of babies are directly dependent on the atmosphere in which they are brought up. A friendly environment will make him feel relaxed and confident. He will not be afraid to ask questions, which means he will develop. With the smallest, just talk. The more speech the baby hears every day, the higher the level of his intelligence will be.
Buy educational toys for your child: cubes that need to be folded by color, balls, sounding toys. Playing with them, he will learn more and master new skills for him.
Step 2
Give your child the opportunity to express their opinion. It is important to teach him to think for himself. If you correct him at any opportunity and tell him how to do and speak, he will never be able to give birth to a single interesting thought. So talk to your little one. Ask him questions and listen carefully to his answers, no matter how strange they seem to you. If any of his ideas seem valuable or interesting to you, ask to develop it, ask leading and additional questions. Talk to him like an adult, make it clear that his opinion is very valuable to you. Never tell your child, "You are too young to understand this." The child should not think that he is not yet ready for independent thinking - this fetters and gives rise to complexes that hinder the development of his intellect.
Step 3
Immerse your child in a global cultural environment. You can take him to the theater, to concerts, read books aloud to him, watch a good movie together. The child's mind will absorb everything like a sponge. Just do not forget to discuss with him what you saw and heard: “Did you like the movie?”, “And which of the heroes was the best in the film? Why is he good? What did he do?”,“Who is the worst? Why didn't you like him? As the child grows up, ask him to write down his thoughts and assessments on various occasions. This will accustom him to constant intellectual work, will give a ground for thought. With an already grown-up child, do not be afraid to argue, even provoke him, but in a kind way, so that he knows how to defend his point of view.
Step 4
Show by example what it means to be smart and wise. It is very important. You can explain to your child a thousand times what is good and what is bad, but if he sees that your actions are at odds with your words, be sure that he will repeat your mistakes and learn to deceive himself and others very quickly.
Therefore, before you commit any act, think about how this will affect your child, what lesson he will learn. Exactly the one that you teach him with your behavior. Be careful, responsible, wise yourself, remember that an apple does not fall far from an apple tree.
