The first movements of the child are very special sensations for the expectant mother. Probably, it is at these moments that she first realizes the joy of her new state. The movements of the fruit are both delight and anxiety. How can a pregnant woman recognize these weak first shocks, and when can they be expected?

Instructions

Step 1

The fetus begins to move from 8 weeks of age. Its movements are completely imperceptible due to its small size. Over time, he grows, begins to move more and more actively, after 10 weeks he can already push off from the walls of the uterus, swallow amniotic fluid, later he learns to clench his fists, feel his own face. But mom still does not feel his movements - the fetus is too small.

Step 2

By about 18 weeks of gestation, the baby has grown so much that its movements can be felt. Mothers compare them to touching a butterfly's wing or to air bubbles in their belly. Later, these light movements will develop into very sensitive kicks and jolts and will sometimes be noticeable even to others, and closer to childbirth, when the baby is already cramped in the uterus, they will again become weaker, but it will be easy to determine whether the baby is pushing the mother with his elbow or the heel.

Step 3

The average time for the appearance of movements that a mother can feel is 20 weeks for the first birth and 18 weeks for subsequent ones. Anything that mothers take for fetal movements before this date almost always turns out to be an involuntary muscle contraction or peristalsis. Especially often confused are women who are preparing to become mothers for the first time and in a hurry to feel all the joys of pregnancy. But here, too, nuances are possible. For example, very thin primiparous women can feel the baby's movements a little earlier - already at 17-18 weeks, and mothers waiting for the appearance of the third, fourth and more babies - even at 16-17 weeks. In the case of multiple pregnancies, the mother can also feel the activity of children up to 18 weeks.

Step 4

The first movements are felt infrequently, sometimes not even every day, so low fetal activity in the early stages of anxiety should not cause anxiety. But during pregnancy, excessively low or too high mobility of the child should be alarming, for such reasons it is better to consult a doctor. From the 28th week of pregnancy, the baby should move at least 10 times a day. A complete inactivity for more than 12 hours is a reason for an immediate emergency call. There is no need to waste time and spend it on a visit to the antenatal clinic - this is exactly the case when you need to play it safe and seek medical help as soon as possible.
