Family life is good for a man's health. In particular, married people tend to live longer. The secret lies in the care that surrounds a man's wife. But this rule only works in happy couples.

Married people live longer

According to a recent publication in the journal Science, married men live on average seven years longer than single men. The reason is simple: a married person, under the influence of his spouse, often turns to doctors and begins to receive treatment on time.

Earlier studies have come to similar results. So, in the past decade, a group of Western scientists analyzed statistics on 100 thousand Europeans of both sexes. It turned out that married men live on average 1.7 years longer than single men.

Although these numbers are less optimistic than the findings of American scientists, the general trend is evident. In any case, things are better for husbands than for their wives. According to various sources, married women “do not live out” 1, 4-2 years in comparison with free ladies.

There is evidence that a chosen one who is at least five years younger than him has a particularly beneficial effect on a man's life expectancy. According to the calculations of sociologists from Switzerland, in this situation, a man's chances of longevity jump immediately by 20%.

Even the fight against cancer in married men is more successful: they live longer with a terrible diagnosis than single men. Again, support from wives and children helps.

In addition, an increase in social ties after marriage helps a married man live longer. He meets friends, relatives and acquaintances of his wife, his circle of contacts is growing. This helps to reduce overall stress, makes it easier to fight bad habits, etc.

Some experts believe that men live better if the marriage is not formalized. This way he does not feel “caught”, which has a positive effect on his overall well-being.

It should be noted that a strong and loving family helps to prolong life. As established by Israeli scientists, the risk of stroke in happily married men is 64% lower than that of single men. In a failed marriage, on the other hand, the risks of cardiovascular disease increase.

"Cons" of family life for men

However, there are some “special” dangers to male health in marriage. According to the findings of American scientists, married men are more likely to overeat and gain excess weight. This, in turn, can lead to problems with the blood vessels and heart.

However, with overweight, not everything is so simple. Several years ago, Japanese doctors voiced the results of their own research. According to them, on the contrary, married men suffer from excess weight and related diseases less often than single men. At the same time, the difference is twofold!

In men in marriage, jumps in blood pressure are more often observed, which is associated with experiences due to marital quarrels and disagreements. Family problems can seriously affect the immunity of men (and women too). Even the wounds of unhappy husbands heal a little slower than those of other people.

How to help your husband stay healthy

Whatever one may say, the health of the family is in the hands of a woman. And, if a spouse wants to live next to her beloved as long as possible, you need to take it seriously.

Clearly, “the weather at home” is extremely important. Strive for peace and harmony, do not "nag" your spouse and do not make scandals from scratch. Resolve conflicts without undue pressure. This is a separate art, mastering which you will improve both the relationship and the well-being of all family members.

Next, you need proper nutrition. The difficulty is that a rare man can eat salads from raw vegetables and dairy products. He usually needs meat. But healthier recipes can be learned. In particular:

  • give preference to baking, stewing and steaming rather than frying;
  • Serve vegetable side dishes more often;
  • Reduce your consumption of red meat by replacing it with poultry and fish;
  • limit the use of salt and spices;
  • choose foods rich in vitamins and minerals;
  • reduce the use of mayonnaise to a minimum.

It is important to monitor your diet. Here the recommendations are universal: eat fractionally, in small portions (at least not huge), do not eat at night.

Then, physical activity is needed. Encourage your man to engage in sports, moderate physical labor, call him for walks more often. And if the spouse himself rushes to the gym, fishing or hiking - rejoice, although because of this he leaves your field of vision. If you don't want to leave, go with him.

Help your husband give up bad habits. But it is important that he himself realized the need, for example, to quit smoking. Praise and encourage him along the way!

At the slightest suspicion of health problems, "drive" your spouse to the doctor. He himself, in most cases, will pull to the last. And if you have to be treated, unobtrusively control the whole process. Don't forget about preventive examinations.

And be sure to watch yourself and your own health. Be beautiful and desirable so that your companion himself wants to live next to you as long as possible.
