Babies as young as one year old already need regular brushing, no matter how many. A one-year-old child has not yet been able to brush his teeth on his own, so the parents will have to help. Let the baby start the procedure himself, and the adults will finish it.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a toothbrush. It is convenient to clean only erupted teeth with a special fingertip, which is worn on the finger of an adult and has elastic silicone bristles. When purchasing an individual children's toothbrush, pay attention to the following characteristics: - bristles - must be soft, made of synthetic materials. The contour should be neat, trimmed evenly and not go beyond the edges of the plastic head.
- arrangement of bristles - it is preferable to choose brushes with bristles of different lengths located at different angles.
- the brush head must be round.
Step 2
Find the right toothpaste Choose hypoallergenic formulations for babies one year and older.
Step 3
Start brushing your child's teeth: First brush your child's teeth on your own, show you how to handle the oral cavity. First, simply wet your toothbrush with water and brush it over your teeth.
Step 4
Let your child use his own toothbrush. If the child is interested, let him brush his teeth on his own. Guide the movements of his hand, showing how to handle the brush. Squeeze the paste onto the brush yourself as the child is not yet able to calculate the amount of paste.
Step 5
Teach your child to spit toothpaste - Many children's toothpastes can be swallowed, but teaching a child to spit is necessary. Show by your own example how to rinse your mouth and spit out water. The child will not learn immediately, but will gradually master the necessary skills.
Step 6
If the baby does not want to use the brush, you can brush the teeth of a one-year-old child with a fingertip. The device is effective for removing plaque, food particles stuck between the teeth. You can use a piece of gauze or bandage wrapped around your finger and dipped in a saline solution.
