Step 1
Before thinking about how to send your child to this sport, assess whether you really need it. In the future, you may face many problems, and they are not limited to injuries. As with any serious sport, there are psychological and technical difficulties in figure skating. For example, girls are consistently given more to this sport than boys, so if a girl is a boyfriend, it will be difficult to find a partner. In addition, serious problems with studies are guaranteed in the future, you will have to choose - either sports or a good education. After several years of hard training, it may turn out that the child has no particular prospects in skating, and this can become a serious psychological trauma. By the way, the training regimen is often not so much the children who are unable to withstand the workout, as the parents often have to go to classes by 6.00-6.30 in the morning several times a week.
Step 2
If you still firmly decided that the child will be engaged, doctors must confirm this. There is controversy about the age at which classes can be started, but in any case, almost no school will accept a child under 4, 5 years old and without a certificate from a pediatrician that the child can be trained for medical reasons. But the famous trainer Alexander Zhulin does not recommend giving children to skating earlier than 5-6 years.
Step 3
Decide what goal you and your child are pursuing. You can train for yourself, for fun, or you can seriously engage in sports. An experienced coach can tell right away whether a child has data for professional (though usually called amateur) sports. Physique, joint mobility, plastic and much more play an important role here. Choose a school and a coach exactly depending on your goals. Explore all the schools and circles that are in your city, find the best option. It so happens that in a small town there is no figure skating school. Then you have to move. By the way, the level of education in different cities is also different. The best schools in Russia are located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Perm.
Step 4
In some schools and sections, recruitment is carried out once a year, while others accept children all year round. Do not forget that you will have to accompany the young child to every rehearsal.
