In the warm season, not only adults, but also children prefer light and practical clothes - and if girls wear short skirts, then for boys, durable and comfortable shorts can serve as an alternative to trousers in the summer. Summer shorts for a boy are easy to sew - you need some basic sewing skills, a pattern, and a lightweight fabric (such as heavy linen, corduroy, or rayon). In addition to the fabric, you will need an elastic for the belt.
Instructions
Step 1
Take the pattern and transfer it to the fabric. Add 1.5 cm seam allowances to all the details when outlining the patterns, and add 3 cm to the hem. Cut out the shorts on the fabric - first cut out two parts of the front, then two parts of the back of the shorts, and also cut out two pockets - you will sew one the back of the shorts and the other in the front.
Step 2
Separately cut a strip of fabric 60 cm long and 6 cm wide for the waistband. Cut out two strips 2.5 cm wide from the glue doublerin - with their help you will strengthen the upper edge of the pockets.
Step 3
Glue the doublerin on the allowances of the cut pockets and iron. Then overcast and sew the top edge 1 mm from the fold, then re-sew the pockets 7 mm from the fold.
Step 4
Iron the remaining allowances of the pockets inward, and put the pockets on the prepared details of the future shorts and stitch with a double stitch.
Step 5
Overcast the shorts, then machine the side and crotch seams. Sew two finishing stitches along the side seam, and sew the back and front seams in a single stitch. Iron and zigzag the cuts.
Step 6
Now fold in half and iron the strip of fabric prepared for the waistband, sew along the long side, and then sew into a ring and stitch to the top edge of the shorts.
Step 7
Run a parallel stitch with finishing thread 1mm from the seam seam. Insert the elastic into the free space inside the belt.
