Instructions
Step 1
In accordance with the existing legislation, every woman has the full right to choose not only the antenatal clinic, in which she will be observed during the entire period of pregnancy, but also the maternity hospital. If your pregnancy is coming to an end, think about where exactly you would like to give birth to your baby. Inhabitants of large cities, as a rule, have such a choice.
Step 2
In order to decide on a maternity hospital, consult with your gynecologist. Perhaps he will give you valuable recommendations and even write a referral to a particular medical institution. For example, if there is a threat of placental abruption during childbirth, you may be referred to a modern perinatal center equipped with expensive equipment. If necessary, you and your baby will be provided with qualified assistance.
Step 3
If you decide to give birth in a maternity hospital near your place of residence or in a medical institution to which your antenatal clinic is attached, you do not need to sign an exchange card at all. It is better to inform your gynecologist in advance about your intentions to give birth to a baby in this maternity hospital. The doctor will transfer all your data to his employees.
Step 4
If you have already chosen a maternity hospital outside the place of registration, be sure to visit it before giving birth. Ask the staff to show you the birth and postnatal wards, ask all your questions. Be sure to take your exchange card with you. If everything suits you and you don’t change your mind about giving birth in this particular institution, contact the head physician and ask him to sign your exchange card.
Step 5
Remember that the signature is a kind of guarantee that you will receive all the necessary assistance related to obstetric and postnatal care. If you arrive at a maternity hospital outside the place of registration with contractions, you may be referred to another medical facility. As a rule, such a refusal is motivated by the lack of free seats.
Step 6
If you want to receive paid medical care, discuss everything with the head physician in advance. In this case, you do not need to sign an exchange card, since a signed contract will be a guarantee of receiving assistance at the time of delivery. If you would like a specific doctor to give birth to you, be sure to indicate this in the agreement.
