A month has passed since the delay in menstruation or 6 weeks of embryonic development of the child. If the pregnant woman has not yet contacted the antenatal clinic, then the eighth week of pregnancy is the optimal moment for this.
At the first visit, the gynecologist will give the woman the necessary directions for testing and undergoing doctors. At the 8th week of pregnancy, the following laboratory tests are carried out: a general analysis of urine and blood, measuring blood pressure, weighing, measuring the size of the pelvic bones, HIV and RW blood tests, Rh factor, smears for vaginal microflora and sexually transmitted diseases. A pregnant woman is sent for examination by an otolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, dentist, therapist. Taking into account the peculiarities of health and medical history, additional examinations may be prescribed.
It is important to visit a geneticist, who will be able to assess the heredity of the pregnant woman and plan further diagnostic measures. It is likely that the woman will be referred to him later, after undergoing the first screening ultrasound.
At eight weeks of pregnancy, the heart and its septa in the fetus are improved, and its communication with large vessels improves. The stomach takes its place in the abdominal cavity, having moved down, its muscle layer is lined with nerve elements. The salivary glands, bones and joints of the baby are laid, the upper lip is formed. In boys, testicular laying occurs.
On ultrasound, you can already see the tummy of the embryo, the spine and the eye glasses. And this is despite the fact that the baby in length from the crown to the buttocks has grown only up to 8-11 mm.
