There are no uniform standards for the age at which the use of disposable diapers is unacceptable. Usually, parents are guided by the child's ability to use the potty, and these two processes occur in parallel and in several stages.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide on a deadline. You can begin to wean a child from a diaper even before a year - to plant it over the sink. The downside of this method is that not every child quickly masters the skills and begins to ask on their own. Often this period drags on for a very long time and the mother has to constantly walk with a rag, wash things and furniture. The second option is to wait for the baby to mature and be ready. The concept of physiological maturity is based on the baby's ability to endure, and is closer to the age of two. When to start potty training is an individual matter.
Step 2
Place your baby in the pot at a specific time. Encourage your toddler to go to the potty after every meal, before walking, at bedtime, and throughout the day. Do not give up on the diaper right away - try to "land", taking it off like panties.
Step 3
Praise your baby. Reinforce the result with praise. You should not spend half a day lavishing compliments and admiring a child who independently asked for a potty. But it is imperative to praise and explain why.
Step 4
Leave the diaper on overnight and for a walk. If the child already asks for a potty and does without a diaper at home, then make sure for some more time outside and while sleeping. Do not rush things - the child is not yet completely in control of himself and cannot always control urination. Especially often this can manifest itself in a new environment or when the baby is fascinated by something.
Step 5
Never scold a child for wet pants. Negative behavior can lead to urinary disorders. Why scold the kid for what the parents are to blame. Analyze your behavior - did you start weaning your baby from diapers too early, is the baby ready.
Step 6
Give up diapers gradually. Start with walks - in a warm season, the child should have a minimum of clothes, which, in case of anything, can be easily removed or changed. Remove the diaper last at night.
