Buying a crib is a big part of the financial expenses before the birth of a baby. But the future dad or grandfather of the child can make such a crib on their own, with their own hands. It is enough to arm yourself with the necessary material and locksmith tools and the bed will be ready for the return of the mother with the baby from the hospital.

Step 1
Do not use fiberboard, chipboard and chipboard sheets in the work on the baby crib, which can release toxic substances into the air around the child. The safest materials for the manufacture of children's furniture are birch, pine, oak boards and beech will cost a little more. Wooden blanks for the crib must be carefully sanded with sandpaper or a sander so that the child does not get splinters from poorly processed wood.
Step 2
Buy in advance a mattress for the crib, by which you will be guided with the size of the recumbent place. The mattress should be sufficiently firm, made of anti-allergenic materials, for example, filled with coconut fiber.
Step 3
The standard minimum size for cribs is 90x40x50 cm. Drill holes 90 mm each in four pieces of wood and 50 mm holes in eight pieces. The holes should be at the same distance from each other at 4, 5-5 cm. Insert the rods into the lower beam and into the one that will be at the top. Assemble the sides of the crib using these blanks.
Step 4
At the bottom of the structure, cut and lay a sheet of MDF, drill holes in it for air access and attach it to the frame with screws and corners. Make the back of the crib from plywood or MDF sheet 90x30 cm and attach it to the frame with the same screws. Cover the assembled bed with two or three layers of varnish so that it will serve your baby for a long time.
Step 5
You can decorate the crib, decorate it with hand-painted, process the corners with decorative furniture fittings. Additionally, casters can be attached to the crib so that it can be moved around the room.
Step 6
If you do not own a locksmith tool, you can buy a used crib and have it refurbished. In this case, remove the old crib varnish with sandpaper, prime the entire surface and cover with varnish or safe acrylic paint in two layers. The bed will be like new.
