There are several stages of prematurity in babies. Children born with a mass of more than 500 g and for a period of at least 22 weeks are considered viable. The younger the child is, the more professional help the child needs.

Instructions

Step 1

Pediatricians, neonatologists, scientists have been sounding the alarm for several years now - the statistics of preterm births are increasing at a catastrophic rate. This is due to many circumstances, including the spread of pathologies in women during conception and bearing a child.

Step 2

Thanks to special equipment, in Russia it is possible to save the life of premature babies, whose weight is not less than 500 g. Unfortunately, such extremely premature babies die in the first weeks of life. Of the survivors, only about 10% have a chance of developing without defects or any abnormalities.

Step 3

The main condition for nursing is a woman's stay during childbirth in a modern perinatal center, in which her newborn can be provided with full-fledged first aid. After the child is born, he is placed in the children's intensive care unit in specially equipped incubators. Conditions favorable for development are created in them: the artificial respiration system is connected, the temperature regime is regulated. Thanks to special equipment, it is possible to monitor all indicators of the baby's condition, which is considered critical for the first ten days.

Step 4

Due to the risk of the appearance of various pathologies, the child is immediately carried out procedures to alleviate the condition: drugs are administered, artificial ventilation of the lungs is performed. On the first day in the incubator, the air temperature is maintained within 30-35 degrees, air humidity - 90%, air concentration - 30%. Children weighing more than two kilograms are discharged from the hospital. The rest of the kids are transferred to special departments of hospitals.

Step 5

It is best to feed premature babies with breast milk. Since the body absorbs food very poorly, it is given drop by drop. The composition of the mother's milk is different if the baby is born prematurely. It contains more electrolytes, protein, unsaturated fatty acids. But lactose is observed in small quantities.

Step 6

If the baby's condition is satisfactory, and the sucking reflex is observed, in the first days, feeding occurs with the help of a nipple. Otherwise, a gastric tube is used. If a baby was born with a weight less than 1500 g, it is possible to apply to the breast no earlier than a month later, since in an earlier period, the sucking process can become a difficult test for the baby.
