Pregnancy in the summer: tips and secrets

The body of each of us behaves in its own way during pregnancy: someone feels a surge of strength and can move mountains, someone, on the contrary, cannot move a hand and is ready to sleep all 9 months in a row. I had something in between: with terrible toxicosis for the first 3 months and abrupt transformations into a hippo in the hot sun (edema) in the last trimester. That is why I want to share with you all that helped me, that was tested on my own experience.

Toxicosis. First of all, forget all the stereotypes dictated by the films. Pickled cucumbers do not save you from toxicosis and you do not want them at all! It is better to start eating right after waking up in bed: bite off a piece of drying or a slice of black bread a couple of times, lie down for 5-10 minutes and try to get up. Personally, in the morning, nothing helped me, but a hearty lunch (and you can have lunch three times, with all colleagues in the office in turn) became a salvation for the whole afternoon. My friend was drinking warm lemon tea and she felt better. Toxicosis can appear both in the first and in the third trimester (the second is considered the most stable and calm period). In "summer" toxicosis, in my opinion, there are pluses - a lot of delicious vegetables and fruits, everything is green, the weather is excellent … Whether you like it or not, the mood rises and you want something tasty … Apples, citrus fruits, juices, cucumbers or cutlets - try whatever you want and find your "secret" product! They say that toxicosis can be a symptom of a lack of vitamin B6, but it is better to consult your personal doctor about this.

Eating and drinking in hot weather. In summer, you should be especially careful: in a hot period, the possibility of poisoning with perishable foods (for example, milk) increases. It is worthwhile to precisely limit the consumption of heavy meat dishes (such as shish kebab), and completely abandon (generally not recommended throughout pregnancy) from semi-finished products, spicy, fried, salty … Only healthy (wholesome) food. Non-fatty beef, rabbit, white chicken and once a week fish. Better boiled (casseroles, meatballs, meatballs, or just boil in pieces). In the summer, experts recommend low-fat varieties of oceanic small fish. And you should forget about sushi, there is a very high risk of poisoning with raw fish, especially in summer (after all, you do not know exactly in what conditions it was prepared and stored, and transportation in a hot car will not do anything good with the product). Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits: whole or salads. And very carefully monitor the drinking regime so that dehydration does not occur. During the third trimester of pregnancy, doctors limit the amount of fluids you can drink to reduce the risk of swelling. In the heat, it becomes a real test, freshly brewed green tea (does not contain caffeine, tones, quenches thirst) and fruit drinks from sour berries can save you.

Speaking of food, tell me, did anyone have those promised weird desires of chalk, plaster, or herring with banana strawberry jam? For all 9 months I did not wait for creative requests from the body … And you?

Pillow for pregnant women. Time goes by and your tummy with your baby is getting bigger and bigger … Sleeping as before will not work: sleeping on your stomach is contraindicated (everything is logical here: do not harm the child), sleeping on the back in the third trimester is also often prohibited (the stomach is heavy and can interfere breathing, as well as transferring internal organs, as they explained to me), and sleeping on the side is not very comfortable, since the stomach outweighs. You can roll the blanket into a ball and tuck it under your belly, or buy a special pillow for pregnant women. First, you will sleep comfortably on it, then your baby will rest on it. (During the period when the baby is not advised to sit on the ass, he can be placed in the center of such a pad, because there is no load on the pelvis and spine, the child is comfortable and interesting)

Insomnia or trouble sleeping. Choose bed linen from natural fabrics, preferably cotton. Check in advance that it does not "bite" and does not annoy, for example, with a pattern, otherwise anything can happen … We sometimes repaired the bed 3 times a night (thanks to my husband for your patience) - we really wanted to sleep on a freshly ironed one or vice versa - cool. Especially this moment becomes relevant in the summer: it's hot outside and it's even more difficult to fall asleep. Do not forget to properly ventilate the room before going to bed, it is better to take a walk outside in the cool evening. Do wet cleaning often, turn on a humidifier, or periodically humidify the air with a spray bottle (economical option).

Swelling.

I observed the drinking regime, did self-massage, lay with my feet up for 15 minutes a day (I advise everyone - prevention of varicose veins). But my legs were constantly swelling … I want to share a magic remedy for swelling of the legs. For a long time I could not fall asleep, as my legs were very buzzing … But the foot cream with menthol gives a feeling of the desired coolness.

Bandage. Somewhere at 22-30 weeks (as anyone), it may be necessary to purchase a prenatal bandage. It is not prescribed to all expectant mothers. Some women do well with special supportive underwear. Indications for wearing a bandage can be: pain from the lumbar region (the bandage reduces the load on the spine, so the back becomes lighter); with the threat of termination of pregnancy or underdevelopment of the cervix; with a low position of the baby with weak muscles of the mother's abdomen (the bandage fixes the position of the child and does not allow him to go down prematurely); in the case of a particularly heavy load (twins or triplets); after a previous cesarean section (scar on the uterus) or other gynecological surgery, after which 1, 5-2 years have not passed before the onset of pregnancy; pinched nerve in the lumbar region or any other trouble. The bandage can be advised by your doctor, or you yourself can contact him with a request for help in choosing a suitable model. It is also worth asking the doctor to tell you how to put on the bandage correctly (or better, to show it). The Internet is full of instructions, but they can also be confused or misunderstood.

Practical advice for hot weather. My daughter was born on August 2, and I experienced all the delights of the third trimester at +30 and above (the summer was very hot, and the apartment was on the sunny side).

1. In the last 2 months I took a shower 3-4 times a day. Regular rubdowns, foot baths … All this helps to “cool down” and prevent swelling.

2. Under the scorching sun, my legs increased in size right before my eyes (from the store to the house I reached a completely different person in size) - it is not for nothing that they advise to stock up on the most comfortable and open shoes. My advice is flip flops! Sole and 2 ropes that do not restrict your feet, do not restrict movement.

3. Remove all rings and jewelry - it is very unpleasant to pull a ring off a swollen finger, personally checked.

4. During pregnancy, tanning and burning is as easy as shelling pears. The level of melanin in the skin of the expectant mother is much higher than before. Therefore, every time 20 minutes before going outside, sunscreen should be used.

5. Avoid overheating outdoors: wear loose, lightweight clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics in light colors; do not forget a hat (perhaps even a brimmed hat - and in addition protect your face from the scorching sun).

6. Use the correct seat belts (and not only in the heat - just very important advice, especially for those who are driving).

And finally, I would like to say: British sociologists found out that the best English sprinters and footballers were born in the summer; and people born in the summer months are less likely to suffer from obesity. So if you are incredibly lucky and the third trimester fell on the hot season - let the thoughts of an active baby who will not let you get bored very soon please you!

All excellent mood and early warmth !!!
