For an egoist, his personal needs and interests are in the first place. Such a person rarely cares about anyone else other than his own person. By his behavior, this individual can infringe and offend others, without even noticing it.

The reasons for selfishness

Some people become selfish in childhood due to the over-emphasis of parents, grandparents and other relatives. If a child is pampered too much at an early age, it is possible that, having matured, he will not take into account the interests of other people.

If the child is not raised properly, is not strict and does not instill in him the concept of moral values, perhaps in later life a person will not even understand that he is not behaving very beautifully.

The reasons for selfishness lie in the fact that a person is constantly being led by his own desires and whims. He often lives by emotions alone and does not think about others. The egoist puts personal comfort in the first place, and pushes such concepts as "conscience", "justice" and "ethics" further away.

Signs of selfishness

The egoist tries to make him feel good. There is also a positive moment in this, because it happens that egoists have great ambitions that make them achieve success in life. Selfish people love to be praised and distinguished from others, so they often try to be at their best in a professional sense or become leaders in a team.

You can also recognize an egoist by his demeanor. He invariably reduces all topics of conversation to his own person. In addition, the egoist loves himself very much, takes care of his appearance in every possible way and sometimes even admires his own reflection.

The extreme degree of selfishness is called self-centeredness. In this case, the person becomes completely unbearable for the rest of the society. He is so carried away by himself and absorbed in thoughts of himself that sometimes he ceases to notice what is happening around him.

It can hardly be expected that such an individual will benefit someone or try to disinterestedly do a good deed for others. He thinks he makes other people incredibly happy that he just exists. A person with an egocentric worldview sometimes seriously believes that his whole life revolves around him, and those around him are needed to achieve his goals, entertain and please his person.

Sometimes the individual suffers from his own selfishness. After all, he may be deprived of the joy of loving someone or the consciousness that thanks to him the other person is good. Some selfish people are dimly aware that something in life is passing them by, and they think about how to change.

A person can become less selfish if they become interested in the fate of other people. Sometimes the birth of a child or another need to take care of someone helps to become a more responsible and sensitive individual. Then he can forget a little about his own needs and become different.
