Children's departments in modern bookstores are full of a great abundance of products - there are toy books for the little ones, and books with musical accompaniment, and classic works that we have loved since childhood, and super-modern series of books about robots and aliens, and scientific atlases with sets for experimentation. The modern children's book has turned into an art object, something between a book and a game. How not to get lost in this abundance and choose the “right book” for your child. It is enough to follow three simple rules.
Instructions
Step 1
Rate the quality of the book. Be sure to check if the product is certified. The book should be made from environmentally friendly materials. Flip through the book of your choice - pay attention to the binding, the quality of the paper, the cover, if any glue is showing through. For kids it is better to choose a book made of hard cardboard, for older kids - with paper pages. But the quality of the paper must also be high - thin newsprint will quickly tear. Also pay attention to the pictures - how well they are printed, how clear the text is, whether there is a persistent smell of ink.
Step 2
Choose books according to your child's age. Some publishers even put age recommendations on their products. For babies under one year old, books with images of animals are best suited (Who is this? Who says what?). It is better if the book is made of hard cardboard - it will not get wet or burst, even if the kid pulls the book into his mouth. For children over a year old, books with large bright drawings and short text are suitable - it is difficult for a child to concentrate for more than 5 minutes. Children after 2 years also need picture books, but there may be more text. Game books with experiment kits are suitable for children over 4 years old.
Step 3
Pay attention to the content. Before buying, do not be too lazy to familiarize yourself with the contents of the book, if these are not works of an author known to you for a long time. Since sometimes publishing houses, trying to make money, publish books of dubious content - these can be poems that will be difficult not only for you to read, but also for a child to perceive by ear, and stories about incomprehensible creatures from another planet. Not so long ago, the fashion for media projects has gone - books are written based on a hit cartoon or a computer game. But these are temporary phenomena, so there is no point in spending money on books that will go out of fashion in six months.
And if you adhere to these simple rules, you can easily navigate the ocean of offered children's literature.
