A runny nose (rhinitis) is the most common cold problem in children. You cannot ignore it, because the infection can spread to your baby's throat and ears: organs that are connected to each other and work together. How can you help a child get rid of a cold?
Instructions
Step 1
Babies do not know how to blow their nose on their own, so regularly clean the nose of the crumbs. To do this, place 1–2 drops of a saline solution based on seawater into each nasal passage, then gently press on the wings of the nose to distribute the liquid evenly in the nasal cavity. Blot the released secretions with a napkin or remove with a special device - an aspirator. Keep in mind that when rinsing the spout, the crumb should not lie - hold it vertically. Otherwise, fluid from the nose through the auditory tube will enter the ear cavity and cause inflammation - otitis media.
Step 2
Older children can use seawater spray for colds. To relieve nasal congestion, instill vasoconstrictor drops in your child before meals or at night. Remember that you cannot use them for more than a week in a row.
Step 3
Warming acupressure relieves breathing well with a runny nose. Apply oily baby cream to baby's forehead, bridge of nose and cheekbones. Use your index fingers to make circular movements at points near the wings of the baby's nose, then under the eyes on the zygomatic arch and on the frontal tubercles. Start by rubbing lightly on the skin, gradually increasing the friction. Finish with a light stroking. Practice on yourself before giving a massage to your child.
Step 4
If a child has a normal temperature with a cold, then be sure to give him hot baths for the arms or legs. Give the baby to drink more often - with the flowing mucus from the nose, the child's body loses fluid. Prepare light food - mashed potatoes, vegetable soups, cereals. Useful for a cold and chicken broth. It contains cysteine, an amino acid that makes nasal mucus less viscous and makes breathing easier.
Step 5
Ventilate your child's room often. It is important to create a normal (at least 50-60%) humidity level in the room. A humidifier can help with this. Essential oils will also be useful for getting rid of the common cold. Use one drop of lemon or eucalyptus oil per burner.
