Instructions
Step 1
Think over the size of the future rug and its shape, which can be not only geometric, but also depict, for example, any animal. Think about what will be located on it and draw a sketch.
Step 2
Select the materials from which you plan to sew an educational rug for children. So, the lower part of the rug can be made of cotton fabric, the upper part is made of thin fleece, and it is advisable to use a synthetic winterizer for stuffing.
Step 3
Pick up accessories - it can be multi-colored buttons and beads of different sizes, Velcro, laces, zippers, elastic bands.
Step 4
Make patterns for all the small parts of the rug: they can represent a complete plot (for example, it can be nature, a city or seasons), or it simply can be details that are not related to each other.
Step 5
In order to sew a developmental rug for children, in which there would be as much variety of games as possible, sew some developmental elements tightly to the base, to fasten others, you can sew Velcro and buttons, to the third you can sew an elastic band.
Step 6
Using shreds of different fabrics, sew pockets of different sizes to the rug. For example, you can sew on pockets in the form of train carriages or truck bodies. To develop fine motor skills, make these pockets with different types of fasteners - lace up, Velcro, zip, button.
Step 7
If you want your child to be able to learn the alphabet and numbers while playing with the rug, sew in one of the corners a "school board" cut out of carpet, and make letters and numbers with Velcro that could be detached and moved, combining them into numbers and the words.
Step 8
Decorate the rug with additional elements, for example, it can be appliqués, soft, clinking or rustling toys, crocheted flowers and berries, rattles, flat boxes.
Step 9
Connect and sew the upper and lower parts of the development rug, laying a synthetic winterizer between them.
