If the parents are not officially married, they must come to the registry office together to register the birth of the baby. This is the difference between the procedure and the situation when there is a marriage certificate and a visit to the registry office of either parent with this document is sufficient.
It is necessary
- - a medical certificate from the hospital or other document confirming the fact of birth (a certificate from a doctor who gave birth outside the hospital, or a witness statement - certified by a notary or made in person at registration);
- - personal presence of both parents;
- - passports of both parents.
Instructions
Step 1
Obtain a medical birth certificate for your child. If he was born in a maternity hospital, this certificate will be given to the mother at discharge. If the birth took place outside a specialized medical facility, for example, at home, but a doctor was involved, ask him to issue a medical birth certificate.
Step 2
Make sure you have at least one eyewitness if the birth took place outside the hospital and without the participation of a doctor. Use the services of a notary if the witness cannot visit the registry office with you and make an oral statement there. The notary will certify his signature under the declaration confirming the fact of birth.
Step 3
Visit the registry office during working hours. This can be the regional registry office at the location of the maternity hospital (or the service address where the child was born), at the place of registration of any of the parents, or the ceremonial birth registration palace, if there is one in your area. Don't forget your baby's birth certificate (medical birth certificate or witness statement) and your passports.
Step 4
Fill out the documents that you will be offered at the registry office. They will need to enter your personal data of the parents and the name of the child. Since you are not officially married, you have different surnames. You can enroll a child for any, as you agree with each other. Employees of the registry office will issue a certificate of establishment of paternity on the spot.
Step 5
Do not forget to take a certificate from the registry office employees for calculating benefits. Provide it at the place of work of the parent who will apply for benefits, or, if both do not work, to the department of social protection of the population at the place of registration of one of them. If the regional legislation of your area provides for additional social benefits for newborns (for example, in Moscow this is a compensation payment in connection with the birth of a child), there may be more certificates from the registry office: for provision both to work and to the social protection department.
