Alcoholism in the family is a real misfortune that ruins the life of not only the drinking person himself, but also all those who are with him. Women living with alcoholic husbands experience a whole range of feelings: they either hate them, sometimes regret and try to find an excuse for their actions. So how should a family member who drink should be treated in order to protect himself from suffering and help him cope with this harmful addiction.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are just going to connect your life with a person who has problems with alcohol, then do not create illusions - you will not re-educate him. Something out of the ordinary must happen for the drinker to independently decide to give up drinking. Think carefully before consciously connecting your fate with an addicted person. From the outside, it seems that you can somehow learn to put up with this addiction, but this is not so.
Step 2
Alcoholics cannot be pitied. Often the family and close drunkards begin to sympathize with him. It turns out that parents, siblings and relatives are always on his side, and his wife is left alone. How many times can one hear such words from mothers of alcoholics: “No one understands my boy. The daughter-in-law is so angry. It should be remembered that once, having pity on a person dependent on alcoholism, close people thereby begin to encourage his behavior. To win the fight against alcohol addiction, you need to work together.
Step 3
There is no need to condemn the alcoholic himself; one should criticize his addiction. Also, those who make a joke of their husband's drunken tricks are mistaken, later telling this story as an anecdote. This is a serious illness and fun is extremely inappropriate here.
Step 4
Do not come up with reasons for drunkenness like: "He went into a binge out of grief" or "So many troubles fell on him." Drunkenness is a vice and it doesn't matter where a person gets drunk, at a funeral or at a children's matinee.
Step 5
You can't blame his drinking companions for all the troubles. You can often hear excuses that an alcoholic is constantly led astray by negligent friends who are always ready to join a company in drinking strong drinks. An alcoholic, although weak, is still a person, so he himself strives for a drinking company. This is his choice, his decision.
Step 6
Until your husbands themselves want to get rid of addiction, no one and nothing can stop them. Try to understand the problem together and understand the root cause of alcoholism. Maybe you should look for the reasons in yourself. Analyze when your husband started drinking, try to have a heart-to-heart talk with him.
Step 7
Move from threats to action. If no conversations and attempts to fix everything work for him, then stop washing his things, preparing food, show him what it means to serve yourself. Do not communicate with him and end intimate relationships. Make a video of your husband drunk, and then show him when he is sober. In the end, if all else fails, then do not endlessly endure, but file for divorce. You deserve a better life.
