If you have a sewing machine that you know how to use, you have an excellent opportunity to sew original and practical things not only for yourself, but also for your children. Children's trousers, sewn by hand, will delight both you and your child, much more than trousers purchased in a store. In addition, if the child grows up, or the pants become unusable, you can easily sew a new thing for the child. Prepare a thick fabric for sewing, a wide elastic band for the belt, as well as decorative patterns and appliques.
Instructions
Step 1
Start sewing your pants by cutting the fabric. Take a pattern of all the parts, lay it on the fabric, circle it with chalk and cut out the parts with seam allowances.
Step 2
For the pattern, you can use the pants of the desired size that the child already has - in this case, it is enough to lay out the pants on the prepared fabric and circle their contours. You should have four main parts - two for each leg.
Step 3
Separately cut out two back pockets and two smaller side pockets from the fabric. Press the pocket allowances inward.
Step 4
On the front parts of the legs, if desired, make a decorative stitch, and then sew them along the step, and then along the side seams. Double the outer stitches. Sew the prepared pockets to the back of the trousers, having previously stitched their upper edges.
Step 5
Decorate the pockets with glue appliqués or decorative tape. Then sew the front pockets to the trousers. Use a decorative stitch on the front of the pants to simulate the front closure.
Step 6
Fold in the bottom edges of the legs and sew them with a double stitch using strong thread. Stitch a wide elastic waistband with a double stitch to the top of the pants.
Step 7
An elastic band can either be inserted into a separately cut and sewn belt, or used as an independent decorative and functional element of trousers - in this case, choose an elastic band that is strong enough, dense, and contrasting with the main color of the trousers.
