Some bacteria present in our body can cause infectious diseases, which often have to be treated with antibiotics. Children are no exception. Only to help, and not harm the child, you need to know how to give them to the baby correctly.
Instructions
Step 1
Before giving an antibiotic to a child, ask your doctor about the following: - whether the drug has side effects, if so, how to avoid them and help the child if necessary; - how many times a day to give the drug, after what period of time, until or after eating; - in what dosages you need to give the medicine (it depends not only on the drug, but also on the age and weight of the child).
Step 2
Remember that antibiotics are not a universal remedy for all diseases. They do not treat viral infections: colds, flu, SARS, measles, rubella, cough, acute bronchitis, sore throat, except for streptococcal sore throat and some intestinal diseases. Therefore, if your little one suddenly gets the flu or a cold, do not run to the pharmacy for antibiotics. Medicines will not only not help, but can also cause even more harm.
Step 3
When giving your child an antibiotic, be sure to pay attention to how it works. The baby should feel better, the temperature should go down and an appetite should appear. Do not give your child antibiotics with antibiotics.
Step 4
Do not interrupt the course of treatment even if the child feels better. For 2-3 days of taking the drug, antibiotics are able to kill only part of the bacteria, while the other part will remain and will multiply. This can lead to a new disease, which will be much more difficult to treat.
Step 5
Give the medicine to your child at a specific time. Measure the required dose of the drug accurately. Never give your child more or less of the medicine prescribed by the doctor.
Step 6
Typically, for young children, antibiotics come in the form of sweet syrups, along with a measuring spoon or syringe. If the medicine is a tablet, take the required part of the tablet, crush it into powder in a teaspoon, add a small amount of water and give to the child.
Step 7
While taking antibiotics, include yoghurts in the child's diet, this will help to avoid dysbiosis. Apply the baby more often to the breast, and give a formula-fed baby a mixture with probiotics.
