The child spends 9 months in the mother's belly in the amniotic fluid. Therefore, the aquatic environment is natural and familiar to the newborn. In addition, babies have a breath holding reflex when water gets on their face. All this serves as a good basis for learning to swim from the cradle.
Necessary
- - bathroom;
- - swimming trunks for babies or diapers for swimming;
- - rubber slippers for the pool;
- - swimsuit.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a bath with your baby at home. The water should be at a comfortable temperature, about 30 ° C, so that the baby can relax in it. Being in the bath with mom, the child feels more secure and relaxed than alone, this helps to avoid the stress that children sometimes have when bathing. You can stroke the baby, wiggle it. To maintain the breath holding reflex, gently pour water on your baby's head, either from your hands or from a mug. You should not use the shower, it can scare the baby.
Step 2
Try the kiddie pool. When choosing, be guided by water temperature, depth and the presence of a good instructor. Sports pools are not suitable precisely because of the temperature of the water - in such cold water, a child will not be able to relax. The optimal pool depth is about the shoulders of an adult so that eye contact can be easily established. In many cities, specialized children's centers are being opened, also focused on infant swimming.
Step 3
If you cannot find a suitable pool in your city, look towards saunas, hotels and water parks. Quite often there are children's pools in such places, in which the water is quite warm.
Step 4
Once you've found a suitable swimming spot, start your activities. Pay attention to your condition while exercising - stay calm and confident. Do not make sudden movements, hug the baby more often, remind that you are there. Do not forcefully submerge your child under water without warning.
Step 5
As he grows up, the child will become more and more independent, will explore the space around him. Increasingly, the child will take initiative in movements. Encourage this independence, but show your willingness to help in any situation. And soon you will see that the child can already swim some distance under water without your help. In the future, the distance will increase, and then the child will learn to swim on his own.
