Very often, doctors recommend porridge as the first complementary food for a baby. They are rich in vitamins and minerals, while being a valuable source of carbohydrates and vegetable protein. There are factory-made cereals to feed children, but some mothers prefer to feed the baby with a self-prepared dish.

Necessary

  • - water;
  • - cereals;
  • - adapted milk mixture or milk.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are cooking rice or buckwheat, first carefully sort and rinse the cereals. Oatmeal is usually not rinsed, but if you do, it won't get any worse. Grind the cereals in a coffee grinder, but before doing so, make sure there are no coffee residues.

Step 2

Pour a tablespoon of cereal ground into flour with 100 ml of cold water and cook over low heat, stirring thoroughly. Depending on the type of cereal, it will take from 10 to 20 minutes to cook.

Step 3

When the cereal is tender, turn off the gas and cover the pan with a lid. Porridge should be infused for at least a few minutes.

Step 4

Sugar and salt are not the healthiest foods for a child under one year old, so they are not added to porridge. However, not all babies are ready to eat a bland dish cooked in water. Therefore, to improve the taste of porridge, you can add 20 ml of breast milk or the same amount of an adapted infant formula to it. Whole cow's milk is not used in the nutrition of children under one year old, as it often causes allergies due to the immaturity of the children's gastrointestinal tract.

Step 5

Add 3 grams of butter or a little cream to the porridge. Stir the finished dish thoroughly and let cool.

Step 6

When the child gets used to the new food, the thickness of the porridge can be increased. The maximum amount of cereal per 100 ml of water is 10 grams.

Step 7

When your child is one year old, start making milk porridge. At first, the porridge is cooked in milk diluted with water (1: 2). If the acquaintance with the new product happened without problems, the diluted milk can be replaced with whole milk.

Step 8

If desired, you can add fruit puree to the finished dish. This will improve the taste of the porridge, and even the most fastidious baby will eat it with great pleasure.
