Swaddling a newborn is very easy and simple. However, for many moms, it causes excitement and even a feeling of fear. Women who gave birth to their first child explain this by their inexperience. And mothers who already have children justify themselves by simply forgetting how to do it correctly. In modern maternity hospitals, as a rule, free swaddling is practiced, when the baby's arms are not fixed.

Step 1
First, mommy needs to decide on the place to swaddle her little one. This can be either a special changing table or changing board, or a flat surface of a crib or sofa.
Step 2
The kid must be dressed in a vest. It can be light or warm (flannel), depending on the season and temperature in the apartment. If the baby's hands remain open, special small mittens should be put on them so that the baby, waving his arms, does not scratch his face.
Step 3
On a flat surface, it is necessary to put a straightened diaper, and already on it the baby. The top edge of the diaper should be at the level of the baby's chest.
Step 4
The left edge of the diaper should be wrapped around the baby's body and tucked under the back of the baby. The same should be done with the right edge of the diaper.
Step 5
The lower end of the diaper must be properly straightened and folded up, laying it on the newborn.
Step 6
The lateral ends of the diaper must be straightened out so that there are no folds on them. First, the left end must be tucked under the baby's back. Then the same should be done with the right end of the diaper.
Step 7
The remaining tail of the right end of the diaper must be tucked behind the fixing pocket on the baby's chest. In this case, the formation of coarse folds on the diaper should not be allowed.
Step 8
Over time, swaddling a newborn will become a routine for the mother, taking no more than a minute in time.
