Hockey is one of the most popular sports among boys of all ages. And the main tool, without which no hockey match is possible, of course, is the stick. At first glance, choosing a club for a child is a very simple task. In fact, the choice of this hockey attribute should be approached very responsibly.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, when choosing a club for a child, pay attention to the material from which this or that instrument is made. The best quality and strongest are children's clubs made of composite materials. They have a cast structure and are relatively light in weight. Classic wooden sticks and combination sticks, which include both wood and plastic, are very popular. But you better refuse to purchase a hockey tool made of plywood.
Step 2
Examine the surface of the club you like very carefully. It should be even and smooth, without chips, cracks or chipping. Pay attention to how the club is painted. The paint on the surface of the instrument should lie in an even layer, without streaks, gaps and stains.
Step 3
It is very important to choose the right length of the children's club. The tool in an upright position should reach a young hockey player to the chin. If for some reason you cannot take your child with you to the store, measure the distance from the floor to his chin at home.
Step 4
Children's clubs can be left or right curved, in other words, left or right grip. It is easy to find out which option is right for your child. Just ask him to take the club and observe the position of his hands. If the right hand is lower than the left, then the grip is right, and vice versa. For a beginner hockey player, buy a stick with a straight hook, no bend. Over time, the boy himself will understand which grip is more convenient for him.
Step 5
Be sure to look where the bend area is on the tool you like: at the toe, in the middle, or at the heel of the hook. Give preference to a club with a bent over the middle of the hook.
Step 6
Pay attention to the toe of the hook of the kid's club. It can be round, square, or rectangular with rounded corners. If your child is new to hockey, go for a round toe hook.
