"Suprastin" is a modern anti-allergic medicine belonging to the group of antihistamines. The drug is produced in tablets of 25 mg, approved for use not only for adults, but also for young children.

This drug is used in the presence of the following allergic diseases: neurodermatitis, urticaria, insect bites, allergies to any drugs, eczema, dermatitis, and toxicoderma. In addition, "Suprastin" is used for atopic dermatitis, which in many children has a congenital nature, its symptoms appear already from the first month of a child's life or later (atopic dermatitis is noticed in infants when they are three months old).

Also, the drug is effectively used in case of Quincke's edema (laryngeal edema) and breathing disorders in a child of various nature. It should be borne in mind that "Suprastin" is not produced in any specific form for young children, therefore, before use, you need to clearly know the exact dosage for the child, corresponding to his age. Immediately before use, the drug tablet is ground into powder. For children, the dosage of the drug is as follows: from 1 month to one year - a quarter of the tablet is taken three times a day, from one year to 6 years old - one third of the tablet, and from 6 to 14 years old - half a tablet 2 - 3 times a day. After 14 years, the amount of the drug is the same as for adults.

Contraindications to taking the drug "Suprastin" is a disease of bronchial asthma. In this case, the drug can be prescribed by a doctor only if asthma is at an early stage. It is strictly not allowed to give this medicine to a child with asthma on its own.

With caution, the drug is given to children with a problem stomach, because antihistamines have a negative effect on its mucous membrane and can provoke an ulcer.

The action of the drug "Suprastin" is to suppress and block histamine, which is the causative agent of a large number of allergic diseases in children and adults. Often, children of all ages tolerate this drug well.

Like any drug, "Suprastin" can cause various side effects, manifested in different ways in each age group of people. In children over 6 years of age, taking the medication can provoke drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness and various coordination disorders. In children under 6 years of age, there is an increase in excitability, irritability and the appearance of sleep disturbances. It is in this regard, when giving the drug to a child before bedtime, you must be very careful, otherwise the baby may not close his eyes throughout the night. In this case, it is recommended to change the time of taking "Suprastin" and exclude taking it before bedtime.

"Suprastin" should be kept out of the reach of children, because the child may be poisoned. Usually such poisoning is manifested by convulsions, convulsions, and also hallucinations.

This drug does not require a doctor's prescription for use by adults. Children, especially the younger age group, must be prescribed by a doctor without fail.
