What makes the child drool?

Experts most often associate increased salivation with teething. But it happens that excessive salivation can be observed in very young children, whose teeth have not yet begun to erupt. This happens in babies who suck on their fists and fingers, in which case the increased salivation helps to cleanse the oral cavity of pathogenic microbes.

Some babies drool very strongly: we can say that saliva flows constantly - both during wakefulness and during sleep, it not only constantly wets the chin and cheeks, but also flows under the collar of clothes, flows onto the pillow. Because of this, the baby's delicate skin is in constant irritation.

Of course, almost all mothers do not leave saliva unattended, they constantly wipe it off, but due to frequent wiping, the skin is even more irritated, in some places it may even crack.

If microcracks appear on your child's skin, they can be treated with any baby cream.

As proven by practice, excessive salivation is simply useless to fight, this process will stop on its own when the time comes. But you should not leave him without attention, you must definitely help the child, prevent irritation and pain.

What to do to prevent your child from getting irritated

Escaping saliva should be constantly removed with a clean handkerchief, and even better if you use disposable sterile wipes. In this case, the saliva should not be wiped off, but gently blotted, so the skin will be less injured.

If the baby is in the crib, you need to put a soft diaper under his head, rolled up in several layers, it will absorb the saliva that is released. The diaper needs to be constantly changed to a clean one, and not just dried, because saliva makes it coarse.

Children who are already sitting on their own can wear special bibs over their clothes, which absorb saliva well and protect clothes from getting wet.

Thanks to this, the skin is protected from irritation.

It is necessary to cleanse the child's skin from saliva not only with a handkerchief or napkin, but also several times a day the child's face, neck and chest should be washed with warm water.

Skin that is constantly exposed to saliva should be lubricated with a nourishing baby cream. It will not only soften and moisturize your baby's skin, but also reduce inflammation.
