Adolescence is a difficult test both for a child, whose body is undergoing drastic changes, and for his relatives, friends and teachers. After all, these changes concern not only the appearance, but also the psyche. Therefore, both adolescents themselves and adults need to know what psychological characteristics are inherent in puberty. Such knowledge will help to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.

Why does the psyche of a teenager become unstable, vulnerable

When puberty comes, the work of the endocrine glands is sharply activated in a person. As a result, the concentration of hormones in the body increases significantly. As a result, not only the appearance, but also the psyche changes radically. That is why, under the influence of hormones, the behavior of a teenager can become defiant, demonstratively impudent, and his mood often changes for no apparent reason. A teenager because of a mere trifle (from the point of view of adults) either comes into unrestrained delight or may become depressed.

Most adolescents categorically reject the "dictates" of adults, even their own parents, defiantly ignore their instructions and instructions. They view such instructions as an attack on their rights. At the same time, adolescents understand that they cannot yet be considered equal in the full sense of the word, since they depend on their parents. But, paradoxically, this greatly annoys them and pushes them to a demonstrative and senseless "riot".

Some teenagers become very vulnerable and resentful. In addition, they can "fixate" on their appearance, be very worried if it seems to them that they have any defects (overweight, acne, oily skin, etc.). These experiences and the desire to get rid of a defect, often existing only in the imagination, can turn into a real obsession.

The above mood swings can lead some adolescents (especially those who have a very sensitive, vulnerable nature) to the idea that life is meaningless, worthless, that no one in this world needs them, that no one understands and loves them.

How adults should behave during this period

Understanding, patience and tact are required from the parents of a teenager. The behavior of a son or daughter can be very annoying, even outrageous. But father and mother need to remember that this is a natural phenomenon, provided by nature itself. Of course, a teenager cannot be indulged in everything, but it is necessary, if possible, to do without a commanding, categorical tone, as well as reproaches, notations. After all, all this will only make the teenager even more angry. Also, in no case should you ridicule his feelings about defects in appearance or misunderstanding of the world. After a while, everything will return to normal again.
