In order to be able to correctly diagnose lichen, you need to know well what it is. In fact, lichen is not even one disease, but a whole complex of skin diseases that are of fungal origin. In some cases, animals can become the culprits of infection of children with shingles, but most often it is acquired in another way. The path of infection of the child is of great importance in prescribing the correct treatment, therefore, it is still advisable to most reliably find out the possible cause of the lichen.

The main symptom of lichen is the occurrence of several foci of skin lesions on the abdomen, legs, and shoulders. In addition, sometimes lichen is found on the nails and on the scalp, but in these cases the doctor most often diagnoses the disease, since it is quite difficult to understand that it is lichen.

At the beginning of their development, all spots have a soft pink color and a flaky surface, but they do not cause much discomfort to the child. In the event that the baby's immunity is weakened, his temperature may rise and there may be an increase in lymph nodes, but this symptom is quite rare.

It should be remembered that at the beginning of the development of the disease, only one spot is visible, but after 7-10 days the pink spots spread throughout the body. The child may feel a slight itching, which he does not pay special attention to and may well consider it to be a consequence of skin irritation from clothing.

The spots quickly increase in size, but never merge and have clear outlines. It is only a dermatologist who can say for sure whether pink spots are a manifestation of lichen, since in some cases, similar symptoms can be observed with a common allergic reaction. To confirm the diagnosis, a laboratory study of skin scraping from the lesion is carried out, as well as an examination in the light of a special lamp in the dermatologist's office.
