A one year old can do a lot and often surprises parents with their skills. The first year of a child's life is an exciting adventure for parents who closely monitor their physical development. The newborn then develops various patterns of behavior, such as sucking fingers, shaking a rattle, and a gripping reflex.
Physical development of a child - what is a one-year-old child capable of?
In the physical development of a one-year-old child, the muscles become stronger, and the child wants to use it. Less and less he wants to lie on his back - objects located only around the crib are no longer of interest to him. He not only turns his head, watching adults, but also tries to turn more persistently. And he succeeds more and more often. This is a reason you can be proud of your child's success, but also a signal that you shouldn't leave him alone on the couch or changing table, even for a moment. He lies more patiently on his tummy than a month ago. In this position, he can lean symmetrically on his forearms and raise his head so high that he can look straight ahead. And if you try to lay the child down, he will try to lift his head and shoulders.
In the third month of life, the baby willingly stretches. This is the next stage in a child's physical development. The capture is no longer just reflexive. The kid holds the rattle and shakes it for a long time. He begins to see objects that he did not notice before. He sees the world in three dimensions, like adults. He begins to kick with his feet, which often gives him a lot of joy.
During this period, the child becomes very "talkative" - more often he makes sounds (usually buzzing), but also sighs and screams with joy. Some of these sounds will turn into mumbling and then speech. At the end of the first year, neonatal reflexes gradually disappear. This means that the first most important stage of the child's physical development in the correct course ends. You can even more watch your one-year-old baby, who begins to crawl, sit down, make new gestures, and gag.
What motor changes can you expect from a one year old child?
The growing up period begins, try using this time to have fun together. Place the baby on his tummy, do this several times a day, and place the toys in front of him. It strengthens muscles and stimulates vision. Talk to your child, read books to him, preferably those in which there are many words that imitate sounds, for example, knocking, whistling, noise, dripping, animal sounds.
Buy miniature puppets and make a mini-theater by moving your arms and giving your voice to the tiny dolls (change tone often, text doesn't matter).
Think back to the finger games from your childhood. They perfectly develop the child's dexterity and hand sensitivity. Try to get your child to touch warm, cold, hard, soft, rough, and smooth objects more often. Let him play in the bath - let him splash, throw toys, put his hands under the stream of water. Go to the pool with your baby. Dance with your child together in your arms, swing on your leg - it's fun, supports the development of muscles, balance and feelings. Go out to the park, into the forest, sometimes to a cafe. Let your baby get used to new and unknown situations.
