The period when a woman ovulates is the release of a mature egg, and during this period the probability of fertilization of the egg is highest. Ovulation itself occurs around the middle of the menstrual cycle. If the menstrual cycle is 28 days (it is considered from the first day of menstruation to the first day of the next), then ovulation occurs approximately on the 14th day, with a 35-day menstrual cycle - on the 17-18th day of the cycle (for each woman individually). To know the most favorable period for conception, or, conversely, if pregnancy is undesirable, it is useful to be able to accurately calculate the day of ovulation.

The calendar method for calculating the day of ovulation is not always accurate, especially should not be relied on if the menstrual cycle is irregular.

One way to determine the day of egg release is with an ovulation test. You can buy it at any pharmacy. Its essence lies in the fact that the test strip reacts to the content of luteinizing hormone (LH) in a woman's urine. This hormone is normally present in minimal amounts in a woman's body. But 24-36 hours before ovulation, there is a sharp rise in this hormone, which allows us to conclude about the moment of ovulation. The test kit includes five strips to be used in the middle of the cycle and to monitor the reaction. The first day for the test is calculated using the formula Cycle length - 17.
Step 3
You can also use a basal temperature chart to calculate your ovulation period. It is measured rectally every morning, at the same time, immediately after waking up, each result is recorded. On the day of ovulation, the temperature rises sharply to 37, 0 - 37, 2 degrees.
Step 4
Another way is with ultrasound. So you can most accurately determine the moment of ovulation and even observe the process of development of the egg (with regular research, you can fairly accurately predict the moment of maturation of the egg).
