Step 1
If you are married to the child's father, add your husband's passport and your marriage certificate to the package of documents when you receive your birth certificate. Since the spouse is automatically recognized as the father of the child, no additional documents are required. The same procedure applies if you divorced the father of the child, but less than 300 days have passed between this moment and the birth of a son or daughter.
Step 2
When registering the paternity of a man who is not married to you, receive a written statement from him that he recognizes himself as the father of the child. At the same time, both father and mother must be present at the registry office when submitting documents for a birth certificate. You should act in the same way if you are married to one person, and consider another to be the father of the child. However, be prepared for the fact that such a decision may be challenged in court by your current husband, if there is strong evidence for this.
Step 3
In the event that the child's father refuses to recognize him, apply to the court to establish paternity. Complete this paper with a birth certificate of the child and a certificate from his place of registration. The court will investigate and most likely order a genetic examination. Only such a paternity test is legally binding. The same analyzes carried out in clinics not indicated by the judge on the private initiative of the parents cannot be accepted as official evidence. The same claim can be filed by a man if the woman refuses to recognize him as the father of the child.
