You can make a ladder in the garden or in the country yourself, you just need to know exactly how to do it and what materials you need. Many deliberately preserve the unevenness of the landscape in order to decorate the area of the site with a staircase.

Step 1
Please note that the number of steps depends on the height of the stairs. The ideal height is about 14-15 centimeters and the depth is 33-35 centimeters. The width of the staircase must be at least 80 centimeters, and so that two people can freely walk along it, it must be increased to 120 centimeters.
Step 2
Draw a drawing where you will apply all the necessary dimensions that you made on the ground (height and length of the rise). With its help, it will be easier for you to calculate the number of steps on your ladder.
Step 3
You also need to choose the material from which the staircase will be made. Natural stone (basalt or granite) is waterproof and durable. A ladder made from this material will always look good. Limestone and sandstone are less durable, so they need to be treated with a special water-repellent compound.
Step 4
Concrete is a good option. It is durable, has a variety of colors and can withstand heavy loads. If you prefer wood, choose a hardwood like oak. The boards must be thick enough to keep the ladder stable. The wood must be pretreated with impregnations against mold and mildew in order for it to serve for a long time.
Step 5
Lay concrete tiles or natural stone on a layer of backfill, the thickness of which is 15-20 centimeters. Make it from a mixture of sand and cement in a 10: 1 ratio. Tamp down the bedding and flatten the top three to five centimeters. Place stone elements and paving stones on the side, otherwise you may damage the base.
Step 6
It is not necessary to install curbs if your ladder will not be subjected to strong physical exertion. Just create a bank, which is a wide area filled with concrete, on which two or three extreme rows of stones or paving stones are installed.
Step 7
Try to control the angle and width of the surface of the steps. Fill all gaps between the individual parts with dry sand. If your staircase is made of clinker bricks, place them on the same backfill as for the stone.
