Modern children often suffer from various speech defects: stuttering, slurred diction, swallowing certain sounds, difficult pronunciation of sounds and words. Sometimes this is due to physiology, for example, congenital articulatory changes in the speech apparatus. But most often the problems and difficulties of pronunciation are associated with the development of the child, his psychological state.

Congenital pathologies can be corrected by contacting specialists. But if problems with speech are associated with the mental development and psychological state of the baby, then a lot depends on adults, their behavior and knowledge of the developmental characteristics of their child.

Parents are formalists: exactingness breeds fear

One of the most common reasons for poor speech development is overly demanding and strict parents. It is common for a child to be naughty, indulge in, commit rash acts. Such is its nature, which is difficult for a kid to “overcome”. Having done something that mom and dad may not like, the prankster begins to worry, worry. Anxiety before the upcoming "showdown" develops into fear. When the time comes for an explanation with relatives, the baby, worrying and agitated, begins to "suffocate" (a tense emotional state causes a rapid pulse, lips and tongue begin to dry). Improper breathing is the first sign and symptom of difficulty speaking. This is how stuttering occurs.

Loving Parents Promote Infantilism

In some families, too much attention is paid to children. This can be due to various reasons. A child can be a long-awaited firstborn or, conversely, a late one for aging parents. A son or daughter of overly loving parents becomes everyone's favorites, pampered and capricious. Their behavior resembles that of young children, even if they are already 15 years old. Infantile children are whiny, their mood often changes. They not only behave like little ones, but they also talk like little ones. They are characterized by lisp and "childish" intonations.

Workaholic parents - a permissive parenting method

Many problems with speech in children would be prevented if parents, living with their work and everyday adversities, would often take care of their children. This applies not only to those who spend too much time at work, but in general to all parents who do not pay (for various reasons) attention to their children.

Speech therapists say that many speech defects are easier to prevent than to cure. It is enough to listen to the child, take an interest in his problems, worries, find out the reasons for his fears. After all, the development of speech is directly related to the development of the personality of the baby, with his psychological state.

Talk to children

Children learn to speak by imitating adults. Therefore, you need to talk to them all the time, be able to listen, teach others to listen. Do not rush to talk to your children, as if by the way. Speak slowly, affectionately, often naming different things, using different synonyms for the subject. Use proverbs and sayings, beautiful comparisons and metaphors in conversation with your child.

Do not get too hung up on sounds that the baby has not yet succeeded in. Otherwise, you will make the child embarrassed and feel imperfect. Moreover, do not repeat "clumsy" words after him. If the child (intentionally or not) pronounced the word incorrectly, repeat this word again, but already correctly. Unconsciously, children imitate adults, and the baby will strive for correct pronunciation.

The main thing is to be patient on the way of mastering the correct speech by the child.
